Alice by Heart

In the rubble of the London Blitz of World War II, Alice Spencer’s budding teen life is turned upside down, and she and her dear friend Alfred are forced to take shelter in an underground tube station. When the ailing Alfred is quarantined, Alice encourages him to escape with her into their cherished book and journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland.

As they travel through the tale, Alice by Heart explores the poignancy of first love, coming to terms with loss, and finding the courage to move forward.

Alice Spencer

A curious and imaginative young girl on the cusp of womanhood, determined to escape her grim reality during WWII by immersing herself in her beloved storybook, navigating the complexities of love and loss.

Alfred Hallam/ White Rabbit

Alice’s charming yet ailing childhood friend, grappling with tuberculosis, who oscillates between a frantic White Rabbit and a bitter March Hare as he confronts his mortality and his feelings for Alice.

Red Cross Nurse/ Queen of Hearts

A tough and commanding figure who balances humor with authority, transforming from a caregiver to the domineering Queen of Hearts.

Tabitha/ Cheshire Cat

A streetwise character with a sharp wit, whose guise as the Cheshire Cat serves as a guide for Alice through Wonderland with an air of mystery and gravity, balanced with compassion.

A flamboyant street urchin with comedic flair, doubling as the Duchess who critiques Alice’s transition into adulthood.
